Philip currently serves as the Managing Director of Katapault Africa an impact investor that sets up accelerators and investment vehicles for startups within agritech and foodtech.
Prior to joining Katapault, Philip served as a Strategy Consultant for the Government of Rwanda, developing Rwanda’s strategy to become a Technology and Innovation Pan-African Hub under the flagship project of Kigali Innovation City. Philip has also been instrumental in the design and formation of Rwanda’s Venture Capital Fund designed to invest in seed and early-stage growth companies.
Philip is a Senior Finance and Technology specialist with over 15 years of working experience in Investment Banking in the U.K. Philip led the implementation of several large-scale technology and operational projects to optimize business performance and cost efficiencies. At Citi Bank, Philip managed the development team of a global equity trading platform.
Prior to Citi Bank, Philip led a team at ABN Amro that managed the development of a trading credit trading platform focused on Asset-Backed Securities with the implementation of product pricing modelling for various financial instruments. As a serial entrepreneur and investor, with over 10 years of experience, Philip became a founding partner of New Food Company Holdings (NFC), a UK-based private investment firm focused on identifying scalable opportunities within the FMCG sector in East Africa. With a passion for the development of High Growth Enterprises, Philip regularly consults and advises management teams looking to scale.
Philip holds an MSc in Computer Science from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, and a BSc in Computer Science and Mathematics from Makerere University, Uganda.
